“YPO Global One is committed to providing our members
with diverse educational and social opportunities”
exclusive member trips

YPO Global One offers several exclusive member events throughout the year to provide educational and social opportunities for our members. These have included trips to the Amazon Rainforest in Ecuador, Bhutan and Haiti. Our latest member event was the Festival of Inspiration in Bangalore, India.

The Festival of Inspiration was a two day boutique festival set amidst the extravagantly royal Leela Palace, Bangalore from April 29th-30th with Mr. Sanjay Raj as the Day Chair for the Chapter. It was an exceptional two day experience where guests were enabled to have real and personal interactions with some of the most inspiring personalities of our time, learned new intriguing concepts, evoked inspiration through stories and talks by the stalwarts of start ups, women entrepreneurs to philanthropy and finance. And the icing on the cake was the exquisitely extravagant entertainment along with heavenly epicurean delights by the top chefs at The Leela Palace, breath taking performances and pulsating dinner parties on the two nights. Over 63 people attended this truly “only in YPO” experience.

We keep our membership dues lower (annual dues: US$1750 primary chapter, US$1500 secondary chapter, US$500 temporary transfer member), to offset the greater need for our geographically dispersed members to travel to Global One events and meetings, and to free up our members’ budgets to participate in more events and opportunities.

We hope you will join us for our 2017 Member Trip – Adventure to the Wilds of Patagonia 15-21 January, 2017. 2015 – YPO Global One Shoe Distribution with Soles4Souls in Haiti

Samantha Borland, Chapter Director and her daughter Sarah in Haiti with Soles4SoulsFormer Global One Chapter Chair, Buddy Teaster, Soles4Souls CEO brought us this unique opportunity for members and children 10 and older. Soles4Souls Travel hosted its first distribution trip to Haiti in the summer of 2010 in response to the earthquake. Since the beginning, the purpose of the Travel Department has been to create lifelong advocates in the fight against global poverty. Soles4Souls achieves this by providing opportunities for people to join the organization in distributing shoes in developing countries.

Home to 9.7 million people, Haiti is the poorest and most densely populated country in the Western Hemisphere. Located 70 miles east of Cuba and 550 miles from Miami, Florida, this Caribbean island boasts miles of beautiful coastline & mountainous terrain. Trip participants were truly given the opportunity to experience Haitian culture first-hand.

2014 – YPO Global One Journey to Bhutan

The YPO Global One chapter organized a tailor made chapter experience in the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan. Each day was filled with adventure, education and relationship building.

With it’s reputation for mystery and magic, Bhutan is often called the The Last Shangri-La. It is the only country to measure happiness and has been ranked one of the Happiest Places on Earth. The Bhutanese call their home the Land of the Thunder Dragon and while they maintain their strong Buddhist traditions, they are also a well-educated, fun loving and vibrant people.

Our journey coincided with the Thimphu Teschu. Teschus are annual religious Bhutanese festivals and this is one of the country’s largest in terms of participation and audience. They include ritual dances, mask dances, jesting and bright costumes. It was an occasion to celebrate, receive blessings and pray for health and happiness.

YPO guests also had the option to enjoy river rafting, mountain biking and other outdoor adventure activities. The unspoiled beauty of Bhutan offers a unique outdoor experience.

Our group enjoyed a face to face meeting and discussion with Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay. Tobgay was a founding member of the People’s Democratic Party and was responsible for establishing the Party as Bhutan’s first registered political party.

2013 – YPO Global One Leadership Immersion in the Amazon

An experience of a lifetime in the heart (and lungs) of our world. On this unique Ecuadorian adventure, our members interacted with ancient cultures and luxuriated in rare, pristine environments that offered an abundance of wisdom, vision, and connection. The extreme biodiversity and beauty of the Amazon had a visceral, positive impact on everyone who visited, opening the way for deep relaxation and profound learning. We were introduced to the Karanqui people who have successfully responded to modern economic realities and political pressures without compromising their indigenous values. They are synchronized with nature’s rhythms, and are an outstanding case study for successful collaboration and what happens when a team or group is 100% aligned on and committed to a vision. After our initial experience with the Karanqui people high in the Andes, we flew deep into the roadless Amazon for six days of intimate contact with the Achuar people. The Achuar granted our group special access to engage with their elders, leaders and families, resulting in a quintessential and uncommon look at warrior leadership that was inspiring, instructive, pragmatic and powerful.

Activities were diverse and included intimate time with host families, exposure to ceremonial work, guided hikes, kayaking, fishing and unsurpassed animal and bird-watching. Using a series of appreciative inquiries and reflective exercises throughout the journey.

In addition, members received one-on-one interaction with Lynne Twist (Soul of Money) and Bill Twist, co-founders of the Pachamama Alliance. The Pachamama Alliance was born out of an invitation from the Achuar people to work in partnership with them to preserve their land and culture while bringing forth a new worldview that honors and sustains life.
